About Hopeworks

Hopeworks ‘N Camden was founded through a collaborative effort between three Camden churches. In 2000, Hopeworks offered training to its first cohort.

Since 2000, trainees have taken the skills that they learned at Hopeworks and started jobs, attended college, and earned GEDs. The website design trainees have developed websites for over 400 paying clients and the GIS team has worked with over 60 clients.

After completing training in website design, Hopeworks participants can apply for positions on the GIS team. The GIS team receives specialized training and works with clients to collect, process, analyze, and map data.

Luis Olivieri, GIS Director at Hopeworks, trains the GIS team members in data collection methods, metadata documentation, digitization, and web mapping technologies.  Read more about Luis and the Hopeworks GIS team in this recent feature in Directions Magazine.

Hopeworks ‘N Camden “uses education, technology and entrepreneurship to partner  with young men and women as they identify and earn a sustainable future.”

Similarly to Hopeworks ‘N Camden’s goals, Azavea is committed to using advanced geospatial technology and research for civic and social impact.
