Before joining Azavea, Joe graduated from Davidson College with a B.A. in Religion, despite his better judgment. In college, he started Pax Backpacks, a social venture that sold American-made daypacks and supported after-school programming for students at a local Title I middle school. Through his work with Pax, he also had the opportunity to consult on several businesses; his clients have started t-shirt and sock companies with dozens of employees and revenue in the thousands. Those clients also happened to be 12 years old. Joe came to Azavea through the Venture for America fellowship program, which he graduated from in the summer of 2016.
In Joe’s free time, he enjoys playing guitar, building websites, tinkering with Arduino projects, feeding his already overweight cat, and exploring Philadelphia.
