As a Software Developer at Azavea, David has helped innovate across a number of projects. He never misses an opportunity to bring his geeky passion to his work.
Whether it's solving a computational geometry optimization problem, or researching new analysis techniques, David doesn't ever want to stop learning. "The Law Enforcement team is fantastic, we're constantly presented with these opportunities where the right analysis, and the right tool can help turn real-world data into a chance to help communities, and save lives. It's very exciting." David has also recently worked on RedistrictingTheNation.com, as well as a number of high-performance projects.
David was awarded “Most Insane Devotion to a Research Project” for his work developing an image analysis and computer vision algorithm while pursuing his bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and Theater from Saint Olaf College in Minnesota.
David has worked previously in the medical software world, where his efforts helped to reduce medical errors, and establish hospital best practices. David has built a number of utilities over the years, including a peer networking virtual bandwidth application for a data warehousing company, and an intra-database spidering tool. In his free time he also developed an innovative spatial social media application for a friend.
David occasionally will free himself from his workstation to enjoy long-distance cycling, downhill skiing, disc golf, camping, and is usually up to trying something new. David thinks you might enjoy Make Magazine, he certainly does.
