Carissa Brittain

Software Developer

Carissa is a member of the Sajara team and is responsible for design, development and maintenance of the Sajara platform, and client implementations. She enjoys the challenges inherent in crossing a geographic and historic dataset with emerging visualization, and data-processing techniques and technologies.

Carissa's education background includes the University of Montana's Forestry College, the Air Force's Computer Programmer Technical School, and life in general.

Prior to working at Azavea, Carissa worked for the 2nd Weather Group, USAF as a computer programmer. She was involved in designing and implementing the Air Force Weather Agency's first GIS forecast reporting system as well as training over 50 people in GIS theory and practices.

Carissa is currently a member of the Philadelphia Freedom Band's Concert and Marching groups.

In the winter, you can find Carissa sweeping the ice and throwing stones at the Philadelphia Curling Club. In the summer, she's harder to track down. She could be folfing, hiking, gardening, reading, playing board or video games, or working on her house.
