reformballot_logo.pngIn 2007, a Reformers’ Roundtable of individuals and political reform organizations set out to create a positive change for Philadelphia's citizens by crafting the outlines of a reform agenda.  The proposed reforms would focus on how decisions are made by elected officials and the public’s participation in the decision-making process. The group created ReformBallot.org to enable the public to participate in defining the reform agenda.  Citizens were able to contribute to an online wiki for two weeks to propose ideas for improving the political process in City government.  After the wiki was closed, people could then vote on the best ideas in each of six topics and sign the resulting R.E.F.O.R.M. Compact.  Azavea’s contribution was the development of an online map that showed, in real time, the geographic distribution of the signers of the compact.
