The CrimeStat application is a desktop tool developed by Dr. Ned Levine with support from the National Institute of Justice (NIJ)’s Mapping and Analysis for Public Safety (MAPS) program. The program has gone through multiple versions and is used by crime analysts around the world to perform spatial statistics in support of understanding geographic and temporal patterns in crime events. Azavea staff worked with the development team to test a new application programming interface (API) that would enable the CrimeStat statistics and spatial analysis tools to be integrated into other software packages.
