Open Standards Support

Sajara supports several open standards including:

  • HTML / CSS / Javascript – the Sajara software supports the HTML 4.0, CSS 2.0 and javascript standards used by Internet Explorer 6.0/7.0 and Firefox 1.5/2.0./3.0 and Chrome.

  • RSS – Real Simple Syndication – an XML standard for publish/subscribe feeds of data organized into items or articles.  Most commonly used for news and blog feeds, it is used in Sajara to enable people to ‘subscribe’ to searches, enabling them to track how the database changes.

  • GeoRSS – An extension of the RSS standard that adds geographic coordinates to the RSS feed, enabling integration with Yahoo! Maps and other platforms that support GeoRSS.
  • KML – Keyhole Markup Language.  An open standard for exchange of digital geographic information.  Originally developed by Keyhole Systems, it was acquired by Google and was published as a standard by the Open Geospatial Consortium in March 2008.

  • WMS – Web Mapping Service.  An open standard for requesting map images from a map server.  Developed and maintained by the Open Geospatial Consortium.

Application Interfaces

Sajara has a QueryString interface (GET-based URL interface) for linking from external systems to the Sajara system.  The geocoding capability utilizes a web services approach in order to support different geocoding services.
