Philadelphia’s City Archives, maintained by the Philadelphia Department of Records, contain approximately 2 million photographs documenting the city’s history.

Photographs were deteriorating quickly but thanks to PhillyHistory.org the collection is now being digitized, made available, and maintained through the site, with more photos being added daily. PhillyHistory is visited by thousands of users each month and hundreds of prints have been sold.

"PhillyHistory.org is a strong reminder of the richness of our city’s past as we move toward a brighter future."
– Former Mayor, John Street

"The search screen is easy to navigate and utilize. The purchase mechanism prominent and efficient. Altogether the site is both user-friendly and a real boon to the study of historic Philadelphia."
– PhillyHistory.org user

"I've become a PhillyHistory.org junkie."
- Duane Swierczynski, former Editor-in-Chief, City Paper

"We get constant requests from around the globe from municipalities, individuals, and other arts organizations who are interested in our work. Muralfarm.org allows everybody easy-to-use access to all of our nearly 3,000 murals."
- Jane Golden, Executive Director, City of Philadelphia Mural Arts Program

"Muralfarm.org has become an indispensable tool not only for the Mural Arts Program to improve archiving information, but also a powerful tool for the public to interact with 25 years of our history. Azavea built an extremely intuitive application with an architecture that will adapt easily as our organization and needs grow."
- Lindsey S. Rosenberg, Director of Special Projects

Philadelphia is home to over 3,000 murals. The City of Philadelphia Mural Arts Program (MAP) is the nation’s largest mural program. MAP is responsible for managing the myriad of information about each of the murals and the communities they serve: information about artists, sponsors, affiliated organizations, start, completion and dedication dates, renovation and demolition details, and the location of each mural.

They are using Sajara, through Muralfarm.org to do just that.
