DecisionTree can optimize your results for many different types of prioritization, including siting, economic development, public health expenditures, residential real estate, land conservation and many more.
What types of decision factors are supported by DecisionTree?
DecisionTree can support almost any quantifiable or geocoded decision factor. Examples of decision factors include, demographics, proximity to asset, economic incentive zones, crime, and concentrations of businesses.
Can DecisionTree use my existing GIS datasets and map layers?
Yes, DecisionTree can use your existing data, but if you need additional data, we can help you identify and acquire map layers for the map display.
Can DecisionTree provide additional location data along with my results? For example, commercial listings, vacant properties, existing business locations and competitor locations?
Yes, DecisionTree’s advanced mapping capabilities can support additional data layers to give you at-a-glance insight into your prioritized location results.
Can DecisionTree provide business analysis and demographic data?
Yes, As an ESRI business partner, we can provide ESRI Business Analyst Online reporting functionality to DecisionTree. The licensing of this service carries additional fees.

System Requirements and Infrastructure

What database does DecisionTree require?
DecisionTree is based on Microsoft SQL Server 2005, but is designed to be adaptable to other database systems. If you have an RDBMS database, or your technical architecture requires a particular RDBMS platform, such as Oracle or PostgreSQL we can adapt DecisionTree to your needs.

On what server is DecisionTree running?
DecisionTree is based on Microsoft Windows Server 2003. If you already have a web server or your technical architecture requires a particular web server platform such as Red Hat Linux or Suse Linux, please let us know.

What mapping engine does DecisionTree require?
ESRI ArcGIS Online, ESRI ArcGIS Server, ESRI ArcIMS, OGC WMS-compliant mapping engines, GoogleMaps, or Microsoft Virtual Earth.

What address geocoding does DecisionTree use ?
ESRI ArcGIS Server, ESRI ArcGIS Online, ESRI ArcIMS, Microsoft Virtual Earth, GeoNames, or Yahoo.
How is the geographic data stored ?
Either as shapefiles or ESRI ArcSDE
Do we need staff trained in the use of ArcGIS Spatial Analyst?
No, if you don’t have licenses for ArcGIS Spatial Analyst or the trained staff to run the application, Azavea can develop your decision factors.

What is Azavea Raster Grid (ARG) format, and why convert data from raster grids?
ARG is a raster file format developed by Azavea for making faster and more reliable calculations with very large datasets. ARG enables DecisionTree to make very fast distributed calculations and produce the resultant heat maps almost instantaneously (as compared to running a calculation as a single process).

Will my organization have to host the application or will Azavea take care of it?
You can host the application, but if you don’t have hosting resources, Azavea can provide hosting for a fee. Please contact us for more information.
