Cicero is a legislative district matching and elected official web API that matches citizens with their local, state, and national representatives by tapping into a massive database of voting district maps and information about politicians, legislative bodies, and election events.

For the past several years, the Cicero team has been developing a collection of election and redistricting tools and services that use geographic analysis to make government more transparent and accessible and help voters understand our current political landscape including:

• Our recently released whitepaper: "Redrawing the Map on Redistricting 2010: A National Study"
  

• The "Redistricting the Nation" website featuring our web-based, redistricting, public engagement application designed to include citizens in the dialogue about a transparent, equitable redistricting process.
  

• A Gerrymandering Study of the United States, released in 2006, using Azavea's Gerrymandering Index.

• An analysis of in-district vs. out-of-district campaign donations for MAPLight.org, showing the connection between money, geography and politics.

• The DecisionTree web-based geographic planning and prioritization tool to run a prototype Elections and Advocacy application to enable campaigns to prioritize canvassing and get-out-the-vote (GOTV) efforts based on a selection of over 30 weighted electoral indicators.

• A real-time interactive web application that displays maps of election day incidents and violations as they are reported, Azavea worked with the Committee of Seventy on November 4th, tracking election-day incidents— everything from voter intimidation to faulty equipment— at polling places throughout Philadelphia County (home of Azavea’s main office).
  

• Tools to quickly generate hundreds of canvassing maps that pinpoint likely voters and supervoters in each voter precinct in order to help grassroots campaigns hit the ground running.
