Avencia Incorporated announced today that it has changed its name to Azavea Inc – pronounced like ‘azalea’. The reason: After becoming the target of a trademark dispute that sought to have Avencia’s registered trademark cancelled 3 years ago, Robert Cheetham, Avencia’s President and CEO, has decided to end the dispute in order to preserve the financial health of the firm and to focus on the company’s mission and commitment to impeccable service for its clients.

Azavea President, Robert Cheetham, was interviewed this week by CNN National Political Correspondent, Jessica Yellin. The interview, about the current redistricting process in the United States, was part of a special series called, "Broken Government." CNN’s “Broken Government” series examines all branches of government and explores how much of the system may be broken beyond repair.
