In addition to our ESRI relationship, Azavea has a strategic partnership with the Cartographic Modeling Lab (CML) at the University of Pennsylvania, providing software, database development and algorithm development services on several projects around the United States.

Our staff and community are the best ambassadors of our success. In the past year we welcomed seven new staff and six interns. We won several awards including a 2007 ESRI's Foundation Partner of the Year Award, 2006 ESRI's Business Partner of the Year Award for the Philadelphia region while the City of Philadelphia Mayor’s Office GIS Services Group and NTI won the 2006 Special Achievement in GIS award for the DecisionMaps application we built for them. Additionally Azavea recently won three prestigious research grants from the Federal Government's Small Business Innovative Research (SBIR) Program, from the U.S. Department of Education, U.S. Department of Agriculture, and from the National Science Foundation. These are feasibility research studies that are helping to drive our product development efforts.

Though still relatively small, we have experienced steady growth - thanks largely to referrals from enthusiastic clients. Our staff is talented, creative, committed and brings a wide array of backgrounds and interests. From a quilter, a guitar maker, a French and a Japanese speaker, a juggler, a furniture painter, to several avid, amateur photographers, our staff brings a multitude of world views, experiences and interests.
